FAQs

What is a tamale?

A tamale is a traditional Mexican food that is made with masa (corn meal) that is spread on to a corn husk, filled with a savory or sweet filling , wrapped up and gently steamed. It is traditionally made and eaten around Christmas, but in Texas we enjoy them all year long. Here at Tamale House we have been making tamales since 1958 and our team of tamaleras makes every tamale completely by hand. Our tamaleras have over 100 years of combined experience making tamales. Our Tamales are Texas sized, but still wrapped in the traditional corn husk.  We offer them individually, as a plate and in convenient 6 packs along with our signature sauces.
